Promoting creativity in the Yorkshire Dales
Over the coming year we're using creativity as a key theme in the promotion of the Yorkshire Dales, and would like to invite you to be part of this activity. There’s no charge, so long as you sign up before 20th December.
It doesn’t matter whether you live in the Yorkshire Dales or are simply inspired by the Dales. You’ll probably be wondering who I am?! I run the Dales Tourism Network and www.DalesDiscoveries.com, mostly on a voluntary basis. I’m a keen supporter of creativity in all its forms, whether helping to support artists and makers, or encouraging people to come here to paint, photograph, write or make music. I know there’s a strong market for all things handmade and local but how does anyone find out about makers and artists inspired by the Yorkshire Dales? How do they know where they can buy? I’m making it easier for locals, visitors and those simply looking online for items inspired by the Dales. We’ll also showcase the Dales as a place to enjoy learning a new skill, or to come to be creative. Over the next few months I’ll be replacing this page on DalesDiscoveries.com with a more comprehensive online map and directory showing who does what, and where, with more detailed information about each artist, maker, gallery, shop and creative workshop organiser. Other activities will include:
To be part of this, you need to complete the form and send in your images before 20th December (£25+VAT after that date). I’m really pleased that Josie Beszant, artist and owner of Masham Gallery and founder of Crafted By Hand, and painter, poet, writer and musician Ian Scott Massie have agreed to help think through some of the activity and give their practical input. |
